Sometimes our pets will do this in the summertime. There will be the hot July sun beating down and your poor pooch will seek some shade relief, even if that is under the car. We recommend discouraging your pet from using the car as a source of shade. We have heard of too many tragedies resulting from that you-are-late and pull out of the driveway quickly scenario that leaves the animal quickly gone.
What can you do? Best thing is to provide shade elsewhere that your pet can use, a doghouse or a grove of trees could work. Also, if you are cleaning out your car, keep the dog inside so hes not tempted to get used to staying under the car to get out of the hot sun.
Bring your car in as the summer approaches to make sure your coolant is full, you have no leaks and you have plenty of washer fluid for the pollen coming off the trees in the days ahead.
