My Grandparents Have A 50s Pickup – What’s With the Flat Windshield?

Classic cars are something everyone loves. They have a real sense of Americana and they are just fun to drive. Also, everyone looks and admires them when they travel down the road!

One thing you may notice about classic cars, especially the older ones, is that they have flat windshields that virtually go up and down at a ninety degree angle. They may look really cool but over the years there is a reason why they are not to be found nowadays. Aerodynamics became a big design concern in the late 80s and that is when we began to see less and less of the boxy cars. One could argue that all cars tend to look more alike, but then again, you are saving big at the pumps with less wind resistance. That’s what you get for an angled windshield!
